Deputy Chief of Mission and Consul General Gines Jaime Ricardo D. Gallaga together with the other members of the ASEAN Committee in Stockholm met with Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) representatives Mr. Patrick Ström, Director of the Centre for Asian Studies (CAS); Ms. Åsa Malmström Rognes, Head of Asia Program at UI & Research Fellow at CAS; Ms. Nanhee Lee, Program Manager of CAS; Mr. Nick Andersson, Senior Advisor to the SSE President; and Prof. Pierre Guillet de Monthoux on 30 April 2025 (Wednesday), in Stockholm, Sweden.
After brief introductions on both sides, SSE conveyed its interest in exploring partnerships with ASEAN countries, through the ACS, as well as carrying out activities that would focus on ASEAN business, trade, and economics. SSE also provided an art tour of the classrooms. Each SSE classroom was assigned an artist who had a freehand in designing the space to “bring art closer to students”, and in a way that inspires and encourages students to learn.
The SSE is the leading business school in the Nordic and Baltic countries and enjoys a high reputation in Sweden and internationally. END

The Philippine Embassy in Stockholm conducted a Consular Outreach Mission in Linköping, Sweden on 3 and 4 May 2025. The team provided consular services to Filipinos, including passport renewals, dual citizenship applications, civil document registration, and notarial services.
A team from the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) London, which has jurisdiction over Sweden, also joined the Consular Outreach and provided the following services: OWWA membership, OEC applications and contract verification. Post also conducted mobile overseas online enrolment/voting.
After the Consular Outreach, the team joined the Ambassador at the Fika Kasama ang Embahada organized by Post in cooperation with the Filipino Community in Linköping and held in St. Nicholai Catholic Church on 4 May 2025. END
H.E. Ambassador Patrick A. Chuasoto met with H.E. Ms. Sarimah Akbar, Ambassador of Malaysia to Sweden, on 05 May 2025 (Tuesday), in Stockholm, Sweden.
During the meeting, Ambassador Akbar welcomed Ambassador Chuasoto as the newest member of the ASEAN Committee in Stockholm (ACS). Ambassador Akbar shared her experiences in deepening Malaysia-Sweden relations as well as with respect to dealing with Swedish officials, private sector, and the Malaysian community in Sweden. Both sides also exchanged views on the recent activities of the ACS, Malaysia’s Chairmanship of the ASEAN for 2025, and global issues of concern to both countries. END
H.E. Ambassador Patrick A. Chuasoto met with H.E. Mr. Bounthavy Vilavong, Ambassador of Lao PDR to Sweden, on 05 May 2025 (Tuesday), in Stockholm, Sweden.
During the meeting, Ambassador Vilavong welcomed Ambassador Chuasoto as the newest member of the ASEAN Committee in Stockholm (ACS). Ambassador Vilavong shared his insights with respect to Sweden, his goals for Lao PDR-Sweden relations, and views on the activities carried out by the ACS.
Both sides discussed the Philippines-Lao PDR bilateral relations, which has been strengthened through solidarity and friendship since 1955, and exchanged views on the changing dynamics in the global economy and what it means for the ASEAN region. END
