30 October 2023, Stockholm - Ambassador Maria Lumen B. Isleta hosted lunch for Major Angeline Rose A. Alferez on 25 October 2024 (Friday), in Stockholm Sweden.
A member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Major Alferez received a scholarship from the Swedish Institute (SI) to attend the Master’s in International Operational Law at the Swedish Defense University (SDU) in Stockholm. She is the first Filipino graduate of the SDU.
She completed her studies in June 2024 and was conferred her diploma during a graduation ceremony held on 23 October 2024 at the SDU. END
30 October 2024 - H.E. Ambassador Maria Lumen B. Isleta met with Mr. Jukka Salovaara, Permanent State Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Tuesday, 22 October 2024, in Helsinki, Finland, as part of the former’s exit calls in Finland.
During the meeting, Ambassador Isleta conveyed the Philippines’ appreciation for the Finnish government assistance with respect to the re-establishment of the Embassy of the Philippines in Finland. Both sides also discussed activities / projects in the pipeline that aim to strengthen Philippines-Finland relations, including: high-level visits of Finnish officials to Manila and possible agreements in the areas of labour, development financing, and education. Both sides also discussed issues of mutual interest, such as the current regional situation in Europe and the Asia Pacific. END
