Philippine Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources MARIA ANTONIA YULO LOYZAGA met with Mr. HENRIK LENNING, Deputy Managing Director of Stora Enso AB and MARIE SAXE, Sustainability Director at Stora Enso AB, on 01 April 2025, in Falun, Sweden.
Discussions centred around the presentation provided by the representatives of Stora Enso AB, including tools and process used in forest management, key considerations in harvesting from forests and plantations, optimisation of harvested trees, and the company’s commitment to ensuring net-positive impact on biodiversity in its forests and plantations.
Stora Enso AB is one of the largest private forest owners in the world, and a leading provider of renewable products in packaging, biomaterials, and wooden construction. END
Philippine Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources MARIA ANTONIA YULO LOYZAGA met with Swedish Minister for Climate and the Environment ROMINA POURMOKHTARI on 31 March 2025 in Stockholm, Sweden.
Discussions during the meeting revolved around areas of mutual interest including experiences in contributing to Global Climate Action, in partnership with the private sector.
Both sides exchanged views on possible areas of cooperation, including in the fields of green transition, sustainable mining, disaster risk management, and water quality and supply management, ocean and coastal protection, forestry, and infrastructure projects arising from the Philippine National Adaptation Plan 2023 – 2050.
Secretary Loyzaga took the opportunity to convey appreciation for Sweden’s pledge to contribute to the Fund for responding to Loss and Damage and gave assurance that the Philippines, as the host of the Board of the Fund, will ensure that the Fund is used in accordance with the objectives set forth during the 27th Conference of Parties in 2022. The students of the Silid Aralan sa Embahada Termino III, which is organised by the Philippine Embassy and the Philippine Education Society (PES), commemorated the International Women’s Month with the sub-theme, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas”, on Saturday, 22 March 2025, at the Embassy of the Philippines.
Filipino Mother Tongue Teachers, Ms. Rofilleta Refuerzo-Larsson and Jella Miah Batiancila Galabo provided the students with a lesson on the lives and achievements of strong Filipino women and heroes, including Melchora Aquino, Gabriela Silang, Teresa Magbanua, and the first female Philippine President Corazon C. Aquino.
