H.E. Ambassador Patrick A. Chuasoto met with the Chamber of Commerce of East Sweden (Östergötland), led by Mr. Simon Helmér, Chief Executive Officer, on 27 May 2025 (Tuesday), in Linköping, Sweden.
Invited member companies of the Chamber were given an opportunity to present their companies. The Embassy also gave a presentation on the Philippines, including the country’s key economic priority areas. Both sides also discussed areas for possible cooperation and investment in the Philippines.
Mr. Helmér invited Ambassador Chuasoto to return to Östergotland soon. END
H.E. Ambassador Patrick A. Chuasoto met with Mr. Mikael Sanfridson, Linköping Mayor, on 26 May 2025 (Monday), in Linköping, Sweden.
During the meeting, Mayor Sanfridson welcomed Ambassador Chuasoto to the City of Linköping and shared that Linköping is the fifth-largest city in Sweden and one of the country’s major academic centres. He gave a background on the role of the city government in Linköping and in facilitating the strong research and development (R&D) ecosystem and the various industries based in the city. Ambassador Chuasoto discussed his plans of strengthening Philippines-Sweden relations through stronger economic ties.
Both sides also discussed Philippines-Sweden relations, the role of the local government, and their respective experiences in the private sector. Both sides also exchanged views on the geopolitical situation in Europe and the Asia Pacific and how the current international climate can encourage closer relations between Europe and the Asia Pacific. H.E. Ambassador Patrick A. Chuasoto visited the Linköping Science Park and met with Mr. Fredrik Larsson, Chief Operating Officer of Linköping Science Park and Mr. Erik Åqvist, Head of Economic Development of the city of Linköping on 27 May 2025 (Tuesday), in Linköping, Sweden.
Mr. Larsson and Mr. Åqvist gave presentations on the Science Park and emphasized the importance of situating the center close to Linköping University's Valla campus given collaborations on research & development (R&) between the companies and university. The Science Park serves approximately 600 companies with over 14,000 employees. Many of the companies operate primarily in technology areas such as business systems, telecommunications, software and system development, home communications, electronics, and vehicle safety. END
H.E. Ambassador Patrick A. Chuasoto paid a courtesy call on Ms. Gunilla Svantorp, Governor of Linköping, on 26 May 2025 (Monday), in Linköping, Sweden.
During the meeting, Governor Svantorp welcomed Ambassador Chuasoto to the City of Linköping and noted that he was the first ambassador that she had met since assuming the role of Governor two months ago. Governor Svantorop gave a briefing on the role of the Governor’s Office in coordinating and creating synergies among stakeholders involved in the governance and development of Östergötland.
Both sides discussed avenues to enrich and strengthen Philippines-Sweden bilateral relations as well as prospective companies that Ambassador Chuasoto may consider during his next visit to Östergötland. END
