30 March 2023, Stockholm – In keeping with the Philippine government’s Gender Equality and Women Empowerment (GEWE) Plan 2019 - 2025, the Philippine Embassy, in partnership with the Philippine Education Society (PES), organized a lecture in celebration of National Women’s Month 2023 on 25 March 2023, in conjunction with the Embassy’s flagship project Silid-Aralan sa Embahada.
The lecture highlighted the stories and advocacies of various women who have formed and changed Philippine history. Filipino Mother Tongue Teachers and PES members, Ms. Rofiletta Larsson and Ms. Elrica Uy, discussed with the students the lives of strong Filipino women and heroes including Melchora Aquino, Teresa Magbanua, National Artist Josefa Florentino, and the first female Philippine President Corazon C. Aquino.
The thematic discussion aimed to show students, especially young girls, that they can succeed and even break barriers in any field of their choosing regardless of their gender. The lecture marked the culmination of the Embassy’s NWM 2023 celebration with the theme “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society”. END.
17 March 2023, Stockholm – H.E. Ambassador Maria Lumen B. Isleta called on Mr. Aron Emilsson MP, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs on 16 March 2023 at the Riksdag.
During the meeting, both sides discussed cooperation between the Philippines and Sweden in the areas of defence, trade and economics, innovation and digitalisation, tourism, as well as people-to-people links.
Both sides expressed interest in furthering cooperation between the Philippines and Sweden as well as sharing experiences in geostrategic issues and cyber security. END
