09 May 2023, Stockholm – H.E. Ambassador Maria Lumen B. Isleta called on Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Johan Forssell on 09 May 2023 at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
Both sides discussed the Philippines-Sweden trade and economic relations including ways of increasing and reaching a balance in trade between both countries as well as possible initiatives that will strengthen the cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, transportation, and green transition.
Minister Forssell welcomed the Ambassador’s work in Sweden in strengthening relations between both countries. END.
30 April 2023, Stockholm – H.E. Ambassador of the Philippines Maria Lumen B. Isleta, together with other female Ambassadors in Sweden, visited The Royal Palace (Kungliga slottet) on 30 April 2023 to sign a congratulatory book on the occasion of the 77th Birthday of His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden.
The King’s traditional birthday salute occurred in the Outer Courtyard of The Royal Palace in Stockholm as the Swedish Navy performed special music for the day. King Carl Gustaf was joined by his son, Prince Carl Philip, as they received the troops during the Commander-in-Chief’s Reception.
King Carl Gustaf was born on 30 April 1946. He ascended the throne on 15 September 1973 making him the longest reigning monarch in the country’s history.
Queen Silvia and Crown Princess Victoria, together with her family, also greeted well- wishers from the balcony of The Royal Palace.

27 April 2023, Stockholm – In celebration of the Filipino Food Month, the Philippine Embassy, in partnership with the Philippine Education Society (PES), organized a lecture and demonstration of Filipino cuisine and culture for children on 22 April 2023, as part of the Silid-Aralan sa Embahada 2023 program.
PES Teacher Rofellita Larsson led the activities for the day, which started off with the children singing “Bahay Kubo”, a classic Filipino folk song that lists a number of vegetables in its lyrics.
Teacher Larsson then led the students in the preparation of “halo-halo”, a popular dessert in the Philippines meant to be enjoyed during warm weather, and which served as the children’s snacks for the afternoon.
To end the day’s session, the students played Patintero, one of the most popular “larong kalye” or outdoor games for children in the Philippines. Patintero requires two teams, where one team tries to get through the other team guarding a rectangular grid normally drawn using a chalk.
The Filipino Food Month is an annual celebration carried out in April of every month through Presidential Proclamation No. 469 s. 2018. END.
27 April 2023, Stockholm – In celebration of the Filipino Food Month, Hermans restaurant in Stockholm is offering a Filipino buffet from 25-27 April 2023.
Hermans, a well-known vegan and vegetarian restaurant since its establishment in 1992, offered a dinner buffet of veganized Filipino dishes, which included: Kare-Kare peanut stew with aubergine, seitan, and bamboo shoots; siopao asado with hoisin marinated soy meat; traditional birthday pancit; and filipino-style macaroni salad.
All Filipino dishes were prepared by Filipino Head Chef Mr. Joel Angeles.
Philippine Ambassador Maria Lumen B. Isleta and Deputy Chief of Mission and Consul General Gines Ricardo D. Gallaga sampled the rich and tasteful dishes while enjoying a panoramic view of Stockholm’s harbor and skyline.
