15 March 2024 - H.E. Ambassador Maria Lumen B. Isleta met with Ms. Olivia Wigzell, Director General, National Board of Health and Welfare, on Monday, 11 March 2024, Stockholm, Sweden.
Discussions centered on the process for the issuance of licence to practice, and accreditation of degree programmes and courses for foreign nurses who wish to work in Sweden. Both sides also discussed the Swedish health care system and the challenges it faces.
The National Board of Health and Welfare works to ensure good health, social welfare and high-quality health and social care on equal terms for the whole Swedish population. The activities concern social services, health and medical care, and communicable disease prevention. END.
15 March 2024 - H.E. Ambassador Maria Lumen B. Isleta met with H.E. Mr. Nodir Ganiev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Sweden, on Monday, 11 March 2024, at the Philippine Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden.
During the call, Ambassador Isleta and Ambassador Ganiev exchanged information, among others, on their experiences of re-opening and establishing an Embassy in the Kingdom of Sweden.
Ambassador Ganiev presented his credentials to King Carl XVI Gustaf on 09 November 2023. END.
26 February 2024 - H.E. Ambassador Maria Lumen B. Isleta met with Secretary Ma. Esperanza Christina Garcia Frasco, Department of Tourism, on Thursday, 22 February 2024, in Manila, Philippines.
Both sides discussed possible avenues to bolster tourist arrivals from Sweden and Finland. Ambassador Isleta mentioned that the growth of tourist arrivals from Sweden and Finland are most promising and raised the possibility of collaborations to make the Philippines even more visible to the Nordic countries. Secretary Frasco confirmed that despite certain hurdles in connectivity traveling from the Nordic countries to the Philippines, the country has seen an upward trend in visitors from the Nordic region. 26 March 2024 - H.E. Ambassador Maria Lumen B. Isleta met with Ms. Darja Isaksson, Director General, Vinnova, on Monday, 25 March 2024, in Stockholm, Sweden.
Vinnova is a Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems in Sweden under the Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications. Their mission is to promote sustainable growth by improving the conditions for innovations, as well as funding needs-driven research. Vinnova brings together companies, researchers, the public sectors and civil society in common directions so together they can create the development Sweden needs.
Both sides agreed to continue exploring opportunities for innovative collaboration between the Philippines and Sweden in the areas of defence, research and development, SMEs, and local government. END
