The high-level Philippine Mining Delegation, composed of DENR officials and representatives from the Philippine private sector and the academe, visited the Centre of Advanced Mining and Metallurgy (CAMM) located in Lulea University of Technology (LUT), on 02 April 2025, in Luleå, Sweden.

During the visit, discussions revolved around technical practices in mining in Sweden as well as CAMM’s programmes and projects, which include possible cooperation through student exchanges, student recruitment, joint research, and other academic partnerships. The Philippine delegation was also given a tour of CAMM’s facility and were briefed on the available technologies used by researchers to carry out their projects.

The visit to LUT is part of the activities organised for the Philippine delegation, who are visiting Sweden, with the aim of gaining insights on Swedish best practices in sustainable mining, mining safety and innovation, and exploring possible areas of cooperation and investments in advanced technologies and research.

It also builds on the high-level Swedish Delegation visit to Manila, Philippines in July 2024 of Ambassador for Sustainable Business Cecilia Ekholm together with CAMM directors Thomas Aiglsperger and David Saiang as well as LTU’s participation in the 70th Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference (ANMSEC) in November 2024 in Baguio, Philippines.
