Philippine Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources MARIA ANTONIA YULO LOYZAGA led a Philippine delegation comprised of officials from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and private sector (Apex Mining Corporation and Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association, Epiroc Philippines, Civic Merchandising Inc.), and the academe (Mindanao State University) during a visit to Sweden.
The visit was organised by Business Sweden Philippines with the participation of the Embassy of the Philippines, with the aim of allowing the Philippine delegation to gain insights on Swedish best practices in sustainable mining, mining safety and innovation, and explore possible areas of cooperation and investments in advanced technologies and research.
The delegation was welcomed by Mr. JAN LARSSON, Chief Executive Officer, Business Sweden, on 31 March 2025, in Stockholm, Sweden, together with Mr. EMIL AKANDER, Vice President for South and Southeast Asia, Business Sweden, and Mr. JOHAN LENNEFALK, Trade Commissioner at Business Sweden Philippines.
On the first day of the visit, the Philippine delegation met with various representatives from the Swedish government and private sector, and discussed the Swedish mining industry as well as the financing mechanisms made available for possible cooperation in the field. Presentations were carried out by representatives of Business Sweden, International Council of Swedish Industry (NIR), Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), Boliden AB, Export Credit Agency (EKN), Volvo Construction, and Axis Communications.
